Illegal occupants
This time, it is the government which is the encroacher...
18/10/2007

After mastering the art of flexing muscle power to achieve almost anything & capturing polling booths, these so-called ‘Servants of People’ aka ministers have now eyed upon the luxurious government bungalows.

These political leaders once having allotted these bunglows assume that it is their’s for ever (allotted by government). From Dadan Singh, Sunil Pandey to Sadhu & Subhas Yadav – all are equally involved in this illegal activity. As per Supreme Court records, more than 1000 unauthorised bunglows have been issued notice in Uttar Pradesh & Bihar. Not only minister but also officials from police departments (around 544), legislators (135), government officials (300) & people of repute (71) are currently residing in unauthorised government bungalows. Being located in the most prestigious & posh colonies of the city, these bungalows are more of a status symbol than just a residence. It seems that the local logic of ‘the stick wielder is the buffalo keeper’ has become reality. It seems that soon every luxurious property will be encroached with the ‘local logic’ across the nation. So, next time don’t look down at the slum people as guilty of encroachers of government land. Those who are supposed to give direction to the future of this country are no way less guilty of this malaise albeit in a more glamorous manner.
